By You I have been upheld from birth; You are He who took me out of my mother’s womb. My praise shall be continually of You.
Psalms 71:6 NKJV

Childbirth is one of the greatest phenomena I can think of.
For a fetus to survive inside a human body then get delivered 9 months later is nothing short of a miracle. The new born baby who once found comfort in a fluid-cozy womb now has to take in air for herself/himself. We are now able to look at this child and appreciate his/her form. The little limbs that punched and kicked are now in sight. This once silent being, now lets out a sharp cry to announce their arrival.
Friend, we all went through this miraculous and life giving event.
On average, a person at rest takes about 16 breaths per minute. This means we breathe about 960 breaths an hour, 23,040 breaths a day, 8,409,600 a year. Whoa! Isn’t that incredible?!
We are here, not on our own accord; but because the Lord Himself allowed us to take in that first breath of air…and then the next and the next; up till your very present breath. He holds your next breath in His hand. On average, 7178 babies die at birth (may they rest in peace, and may the Lord God comfort the bereaved). God allowed you to live….up till this very moment.

Friend, you did not will yourself into existence. You are not a mistake or an accident. You are not useless or the scum of the earth. I don’t know what your past says about you. I don’t know what people have said about you or what you believe about yourself. All I know is that the Supreme King Himself fashioned you. The Creator of Heaven and earth. He who scattered the stars across the sky. He who said, let there be light and there was light. He who paints the beautiful sunsets on the canvas of the sky. He thought of you before He laid the foundations of the earth and made you in His image.

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”Jeremiah 1:5 NKJV

His thoughts towards you are precious:

How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them!
Psalms 139:17 (NKJV)

He loves you recklessly and His pursuit of you is relentless.
Think about it.
Consider this.
Why are you alive today?
It’s not about you. It’s all Him. He made you. He knows you. He designed your very being, your mind, your spirit, your personality….He set you in a specific family, neighbourhood, nation, continent, race and time-period. He wasn’t late or early in placing you here on earth. He knows. He has your blueprint. Want to know what it is? Want to know why He put you here? Here’s why:

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord . Praise the Lord !
Psalms 150:6 NKJV

To worship Him.
To love Him.
To glorify Him.
Want to know why else you are alive? Get to know this Maker. This King. He will show you great and mighty things you have never known.

Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’ Jeremiah 33:3 NKJV)

He will correct you like no one ever has, He will father you and love you, comfort and cover you……forever.
If you already know Him, good. Continue in the pursuit, enjoy His presence and leading as you await eternal fellowship with Him. If you don’t know Him, say this prayer. Invite Him into your heart and grab yourself a Bible either in digital or physical form. Get connected with Christians in your life and tell them of your decision. Reply in the comments below so that I may pray with you. Thank you for making this choice. Your life will take on a different meaning from now hence forth.

Be encouraged friends.

If telling yourself not to give up is no longer enough, read on.

If you feel like your life lacks meaning, depth and rhythm, read on.

Dear friend, my heart breaks for you, whoever you are, wherever you are.

Don’t feel like a wuss. Don’t feel like you should handle it better and that you should have spiritually outgrown such feelings. We all feel messed up sometimes. It’s the result of living in a fallen world. I’ve had my days where I just want to stay in bed and nurse depression. I know how it feels. I’ve been there. I know how life can beat one down. I know how it feels to wonder whether it’s the devil or the lack of dependence on God. You wonder whether situation X, Y or Z has all that power to knock you down to where you are right now.

Take a moment and meditate upon this verse:

The LORD’S lovingkindnesses indeed nevercease, For His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.
Lamentations 3:22-23
Whatever your situation;

Be encouraged.

Life’s answers are hardly ever drawn across the sky.

And chances are that you will hardly ever get the answers you are looking for when you cry out to God with such prayers: ‘Lord, show me what to do. Lord, show me, I will do it, as long as I know its you!’

I believe in a God who blesses us with wise counsel , a God who gives us good things. But I have also learnt that the wise solutions we seek may not necessarily come in the way we want, valid as they are. I may be walking on the beach and find a little note in a bottle conveniently addressed to me or I may dine with angels – all giving me answers to my dilemmas or best yet, I may hear God’s voice, in a whisper or in the wind. After all, He is a mighty God who does as He pleases. Acknowledging this truth, that He can do all things, including writing on the wall, I still persist in diving into the word for answers, and calling out to God from a secret place.

I appreciate the struggle we sometimes face as human beings, in trying to find God’s perfect will with regards to desicions and temptations. I know how it feels to be in a place where one knows not what step of action to take. It could be one of those catch-22 scenarios, or something that hits you leaving you not knowing left from right. I don’t know what your today looks like, but I want to bring a perspective here, with special regard to situations which leave us planless. Stuff you should do when you see a huge signpost with the words: “End of Wit”.

Please follow through these three key words and their accompanying scriptures. Enjoy!

Key word: ALWAYS.

Scripture: Rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say, rejoice. (Phillipians 4:4)

To rejoice is to express abundant happiness in the Lord. We are to do this always; regardless of what season we are in. You may not know what to do in your season but rest assured that everything works together for the good of those who love Him(Romans 8:28). The Lord sustains us through all of life. He wakes us up with the message of His unfailing love and we say, ‘This is the day that the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it.’ Doesn’t matter whether you woke up with no solution to your problems. The fact is that the Lord has made this day and we will embrace it with rejoicing and be glad in it. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord (Psalms 150). That includes you in your quest for answers.

Rejoice! Rejoice! Rejoice!

Key word: ALL

Scripture: In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. (1 Thessalonians 5:18)

We are to give thanks in ALL things. Whether we know God’s will or not. Whether life makes sense or not; give thanks. Solution or none; give thanks. It is God’s will in Christ Jesus concerning you. To give thanks. With or without reason. The psalmist talks of a sacrifice of thanksgiving (Psalms 107:22 & 116:17). It is a sacrifice when there is absolutely nothing else you can do in a particular situation. It is surrender. Better yet, thank Him for what He is yet to do in the days to come. Thank Him because He is greater than the solution you seek and after all, when you meet God, you meet solution. Shift your focus away from your current scenario and thank God.

Scripture: Pray without ceasing. (1 Thessalonians 5:17)

Personal prayer is a very, well, personal thing. No one can teach you how to have a conversation with God. Only you can articulate your feelings, emotions, desires, petitions, supplications. Only you can bring that out in the best way you know how. It is your sojourn, your story, your walk. No one else knows your sadness, and strangers cannot share your joy (Proverbs 14:10, The Holy Bible, New Century Version). Pray within God’s word. Best part is, He knows all your stuff, He knows what you are about. He knows everything about you, including things that you have no idea about, so why not pour it all out to Him who cares, Him who takes our burdens and offers us a means of escape? He who was tempted in every way that we are, yet overcame? (Hebrews 4:15). People, trust God all the time. Tell him all your problems, because God is our protection.(Psalms 62:8, The Holy Bible, New Century Version).

The most beautiful truth about these verses is that they point us back to God. Rejoice IN the Lord, give thanks in ALL things and pray CONTINUALLY. It’s about relationship with God. Remaining in Him always. Everything started in Him and finds its purpose in Him.

He has a Plan.

Seek Him.
